Strength Through Unity (L'Union Fait La Force)

April 1, 2010

Dear A Thousand Wordz and; D.N.A Brewing Organization:
As you know the response in the days following the earthquake in Haiti were both immediate and critical. After my initial trip upon finding my mother safe, I knew that I had to return to Haiti and deliver immediate assistance to the people ofHaiti. Currently to date the money we raised has allowed us to:

* Organized a Medical Clinic administered by New Yorkpartners (Marly and Qaid) in conjunction with
doctors and nurses from Humanity First
* Provided additional medical supplies to the Humanity First Clinic in Turgeau
* Bought & Distributed food to Families in Trugeau: 525 lbs. of rice, 600 lbs. of beans, 118 lbs. of cornmeal,
155 lbs. of barley, and 120 lbs. of pasta
* Bought 100 large temporary housing structures made with canopies (10ft x 12ft) and tarps
* Installed 2 water filtration systems which will produce and provide over 1000 gallons per hour.
* Bought art from local artists to be sold at Fundraiser inSeattle
* Delivered 5400 gallons of filtered, potable drinking water

Your contribution of $500.00 will be directed towards rebuilding Targeau, an area of Port au Prince where my family is directly affected. We have identified a total of 9 homes & 1 school that need to be rebuilt. When others were still debating how to deliver assistance, we were doing it. In a matter of days and from hundreds of miles away from Haiti we mobilized, found the resources and hand delivered them. We could not have achieved this without organizations like yours.

We are the conduit for the contribution to humanity that you wish to make. Every dollar you donate goes to help people inHaiti affected by this devastating earthquake. I thank you for your faith in me to deliver assistance and create a better life for the people of Haiti. And I hope to have your continued support in this task to rebuild Haiti. Please continue to follow the progress we make via our website blog, www.strengththroughunity.org (L'Union Fait La Force).

With Sincere Gratitude,

Message from What If? Foundation

Hi everyone who attended this wonderful event, The What If? Foundation (www.whatiffoundation.org) is thrilled to be one of the recipients of the money you raised. We'll use your gift to continue providing life-saving meals and water at our food program in Port-au-Prince. We have lots of photos on our website gallery so you can see the huge difference your gift will make in the lives of the children and adults we serve.

Thanks again!

Homebrews for Haiti a Huge Success Thanks to All of You, See You Again Soon

Thanks so much to everyone who came out Saturday, February 27th to DNA Brewing Organization's debut event, A Thousand Wordz.

We couldn't have asked for better results-$1800 raised through brew, art and music. And we couldn't have done it without all the great people who turned out with friends to support the event.

Special thanks to Brewcraft of San Francisco for their support to all of the brewers, and of course to the collaborating brewers themselves. Thanks also to Pyramid Brewery of Berkeley for augmenting our beer supply on short notice. The Hood Chefs also ripped it up!

SUPER DUPER DOPENESS

DNA Brewing Organization helped raise $1,800 for Haitian Aid. We are deciding on how to split the money between organizations, but we are very close to specifics. We will send the money we raised to Partners in Health, What if?, and Strength in Unity. More to come, so stay posted.

Big thanks to the Rhinestone Carboys for helping with the delicious nector of Haiti Hopeaweizen, and Prince-of-Porters. Doug, Naoko, and Atiim for brainstorming the charity beer.

And reFRACTion, Thank You.

Debut Event for the DNA Brewing Organization

DNA

D.N.A. Brewing Organization started in 2009 in San Francisco, California. Douglas Shelton, and Naoko Hishikawa began purchasing do it yourself ingredients from SAN FRANCISCO BREWCRAFT. The first beer made was a Red Ale, created by Doug & Naoko, which they called Ginner, as in beginner. Eventually, they invited Atiim Chenzira to collaborate on a Heffeweisen beer, which lead to Doug's brilliant idea of Haiti Hopeaweisen, mixing with Atiim's idea of fundraising through community collaborative shows. After discussing the two ideas, ingredients, and connecting with other local brewers, The DNA Brewing Organization was born, and charity beer began to ferment.

It all begins with DNA

Welcome to the DNA Brewing Organization and Thank You for Your Support

We will update this blog frequently to bring you up to date on our latest brews made to support deserving causes.

Our first two brews, which were inspired by the January 12, 2010 earthquake that devastated Haiti, are currently in the works and will be available soon at a handful of fundraising events in the Bay Area.
An especially big thanks to the crew at San Francisco Brewcraft
(http://www.sanfranciscobrewcraft.com/) for their help on our first project.

Prince-of-Porters and Haiti Hopeweizen
Proceeds from fundraising events featuring our first two beers, Prince-of-Porters and Haiti Hopeweizen, will help support relief efforts in Haiti. The devastation in Haiti is still fresh and it is unclear where contributions will be needed most when our fundraiser events are held, but we are focusing our efforts on supporting organizations that provide clean water for the Carribean island country.

Prince-of-Porters, inspired by Haiti's capital city Port-au-Prince, is a deep, dark porter. Drinkers will enjoy hints of chocolate and brown sugar to balance this naturally bitter beer.

Haiti Hopeweizen is a traditional hefeweizen style beer. You will likely note a hint of honey in this golden brew. Do not be put off by the "chunky style" approach that we've taken with this concoction--the beer is alive with flavor from yeast, wheat and hope.
